As I ran back across the Golden Gate Bridge yesterday I had just ticked off one of my running 'bucket list' aspirations. Wait I don't have a real running bucket list!?! Ok so here it is... Worldly running ambitions, what in my lifetime I want to do & where I want to do it!!!
PINK RUNNER BUCKET LIST.............
1) MARATHON DE SABLES - SAHARA DESERT
2) COMRADES MARATHON - DURBAN, SOUTH AFRICA
3) TARAWERA 100K - NEW ZEALAND
4) ANNAPURNA SUMMIT - NEPAL (ok so not technically a run but a lifelong ambition, challenging mountain hike)
5) AN AMAZING USA ULTRA - LEADVILLE / WESTERN STATES etc.
6) THE WALL 64K - NORTHUMBERLAND, UK
7) TOKYO MARATHON
8) BERLIN MARATHON
9) THE BIG RED 250K RUN - SIMPSON DESERT, AUSTRALIA (& I will hopefully be ticking this one off the list in July)
10) To run. To be able to run. To enjoy the essence of running for many years to come.

My ULTRA MARATHON run training, health & fitness diary to inspire & exude amazing energy. Sharing my creative adventures in veganism to power me through the distances. & quoting my spiritual enlightenments along the journey...... With my musings & motivation thrown in the healthy trail mix. Gotta keep righteously running like the wind to be free!!! XOX

Good morning San Francisco
As Otis Redding once sang, & this morning pinky ran, "headed for the 'Frisco bay"...
So when I woke before sunrise this morning I thought 'what am I going to do this morning? I know, I'll go on one of my lifelong running ambition list runs, yep I'll run across the Golden Gate Bridge.'
& so with my San Fran street map highlighted with my (approx. 9k) route to the start of the Golden Gate Bridge as the sun rose to the east I ran to the west thru the hilly streets of the awakening city. I luv experiencing the nuances of a city in the early morning light & pretty pastel streets were highlighted as was the Golden Gate Bridge upon my first glance across the bay. I could swear that it had a pinky glow!
The approach was a flat sandy run along next to the water, looking out over to Alcatraz. The air was fresh & everything shone bright in the morning sun, having not run for nearly 2 weeks (oh my!) my legs felt like they had been reunited with a long lost sister! Happy & relieved. I've been doing bits of yoga here & there in hotel rooms, a gym session or maybe 2, but nothing gives me my sense of being like running. & what a stunning setting for a run.
I ran up some steps & through a mini trail to reach the start of the bridge, I was also greeted with traffic noise. Hmm. & running onto the golden gate an unfriendly stitch!!! No way was I going to let anything deter me or destroy this experience. So as I ran I did so in meditation, I counted down lamp posts, oh & waved at cute cyclists & took photos of the impressive structure from different angles. & across & back I ran. Tick. Done.
After another hour run (so 21/2 in total) I reached my hotel stopping in a deli downtown for drinks, vitamin water & juice. & now I sit showered eating my second bowl of cereal & soy with banana & berries, I'm thinking I could do that again tomorrow!! What a wonderful way to start the day. Thanks San Fran & Golden (pinky) Gate bridge!!

Beach babin'
I've been in bliss on the beach which excuses my lack of blogging but there's been no lack of running, well being & happiness on the islands in Thailand.
For 10 divine days I was lucky to laze & dream away the days in the sweet sunshine on pristine shores. With an early wake up every morning of a 40 minute run just as the sun rose up high & radiated it's intense bright energy, it got pretty hot!
Now even in heaven on some mornings I felt the power & others I had to focus on the waves softly lapping on the sand to deflect the pain of relentless running in heat & sand running is something else (note to self for 250k desert run).
But mostly I was appreciative; to be alive & able to be participating in paradise. & I found a dream yoga space, it was at a resort aptly named 'sanctuary' & there's no better place to do sun salutations than facing the sparkly bright blue sea & sky with the sounds of the ocean kissing your senses.
On my runs I'd pass couples of all ages on early morning romantic strolls, the diving boats taking out their snorklers for fun with the fish (& sharks!!), a pair of yogis practising their asanas or a discarded cocktail by a hedonistic reveller from the beach party only just finished at sunrise. I'd jump over the waves that caught me by surprise & I'd leap into the ocean just as I'd finished my laps of the beach for 'one of those moments of sheer joy'.
In 10 days I ran x7 times & I did yoga x4 times ~ perfect holiday exercise.
Feeling refreshed & ready for my round the world fashion trip now...
Sharing my love for this beautiful part of the world, koh lanta luvs xox
heavenly island living...
dipping my toes in!
crystal clear ocean luv xo
take me back to this stunning seashore, please??
